A pony bottle is the only truly redundant alternate air source you can rely on. In its essence, a pony bottle is simply a small gas tank that can be carried in addition to the main tank. You can choose to mount it either on your side, in front of your body or fix it to your main cylinder.
Pony bottle tanks normally come in a few different sizes. The capacity you need will depend on how deep you plan to go and what type of diving you plan to do. This particular model of cylinders comes in five different sizes - 6, 13, 19, 30, and 40 cu ft.
Catalina Pony Bottle Tanks are made of aluminum alloy, which means that they don’t rust. The cylinders are also Nitrox ready up to 40 percent.
A convertible Pro Valve comes included with the tanks. The valve has a heavy-duty design with a smooth operating mechanism and multi-ported burst disc plug for added safety. In addition to that, it is one of the highest-flow cylinder valves available today.
Please, NOTE - Visual Inspection not included and will need to be obtained from a certified tank technician before filling. All tanks have current Hydro Static stamps.
